Welcome to the Echols Scholars Community! The Echols Council would like to congratulate you on your acceptance into the University of Virginia and our College of Arts and Sciences honors program! Admittance to UVA is no small feat and we commend you for this incredible achievement. The UVA Board of Admissions selects Echols Scholars based on their achievements and involvement in the community around them. You were selected because you set yourself apart from your peers and showed your willingness to learn beyond any classroom. We are amazed at everything you have accomplished so far and we hope that you will bring that same drive and passion to the University.
You might be wondering, what is Echols? The Echols Scholars Program is designed to cultivate learning, leadership, citizenship, and personal growth by allowing complete control of your academic pursuits and introducing you to new and exciting opportunities around Grounds (our term for “campus,” but we’ll get to that). Selecting a college to attend is difficult so we have created and brought together some resources for you to learn about what the Echols Program can do for you, what UVA has to offer, and what it’s like living in Charlottesville. The Echols Ambassadors are here to talk to you about the Echols Scholars Program and answer any questions you might have throughout your decision-making process. We encourage you to contact the Echols Ambassadors with any questions you might have about the Echols program or life at the University of Virginia in general.
