The Echols Scholars Program connects you to a vibrant community of scholars at UVA and a global network of alumni. From day one, you’ll have opportunities to meet fellow scholars, whether through Scholars Housing, peer mentoring, or events organized by the Echols Council.

Scholars Housing

Live with fellow Echols and Rodman Scholars in Balz-Dobie House, featuring air-conditioning, study lounges, and a strong, tight-knit community. Many scholars form lifelong friendships, often choosing to live together beyond their first year.

Peer-Mentoring

Before arriving at UVA, you’ll be paired with an upperclassman mentor who shares your interests. They’ll guide you through course registration, student life, and opportunities at UVA. Meet-ups like lawn events and coffee chats help you stay connected throughout the year.

Alumni Network

With 60 years of Echols graduates in diverse fields, you’ll have access to an extensive alumni network. Join the Alumni Mentoring Program to connect with professionals who share your academic and career interests.
